so tired

She gingerly slides into the car seat
Exhales
Eyes closed and says
“I’m so tired”
We have been walking at the park
Temperature hovering just above freezing
The wind being what it is here
Hard from the north
Driving that cold right to the bone
She’s been baking all day
Working to make treats for family
Trying to guide family dealing with
A medical diagnosis that our family has
Dealt with for 30+ years
One that requires rethinking of
Food
She will tell you it’s a harder conversation than
Sex or religion
But one she’s very good at
Navigating
I see a person so filled with
Joy
Happiness and a desire to make
Your life better
She’s determined to help
Where she can
Her love of family and
Humanity is huge
And she’s tired
Time to go home
Get warm
Relax
